The Quantitative/Research Analyst-GAA will work closely with the GAA Portfolio Managers. The role may also involve management of one or more GAA portfolios including portfolio decision making, preparing trading instructions, custom portfolio reporting and monitoring portfolio performance and risks. Global Asset Allocation portfolios actively invest in global developed and emerging equity markets, fixed income markets, currencies and commodities and utilize numerous derivative contracts (including futures, options, swaps and currency forwards). Responsibilities: • Understand and interpret model signals and weights, including the investment theories and valuation models behind the construction of the models. • Keep up to date with the economy and global markets, monitor new developments in order to identify potential ad-hoc risks in the current portfolio positioning that cannot be captured by the model. • Perform extensive analysis on model inputs and outputs: research data sources, alternative feeds, fundamental validation of data. • Assist the model implementation by defining optimal systematic trading rules. • Perform various portfolio risk and performance analysis. • (Potential) Manage asset allocation portfolios, monitor portfolio risks, exposures, performance drivers. Qualification requirements: Education: Master’s in Financial Engineering or Master’s in Business Administration or BA/BS Degree, preferably in Finance/Economics/Accounting/Mathematics. CFA is a plus. Experience: Four to seven years of investment experience for BA holders Two years or more of investment experience for candidates with Master’s degree or CFA Experience with Asset Allocation portfolio analysis, multi-asset portfolio management, and/or development of investment and portfolio management models a plus Skills: Strong knowledge of financial theory, economics and investments including derivative instruments and portfolio analysis Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent analytical skills, aptitude for quantitative reasoning, modeling and problem solving Intellectual curiosity, creative thinking and interest in global financial markets Dedication to accuracy and attention to detail Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including programming in VBA; Working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Matlab, Datastream and/or Bloomberg a plus If you’re interested in this position, please go to www.bnymellon.com/careers and apply to position # 1004581.
